File support that makes printing predictable
Not every project starts with a perfect “print-ready” file. Sometimes you have an STL that needs tweaks, a broken part you want to replace, or a hand sketch with key dimensions. Our design support bridges the gap between an idea and a result you can actually use.
If you also want us to print your part, we optimise the file specifically for the selected process (FDM or resin) to improve reliability, surface quality, and cost efficiency.
What we can help with
Printability checks and practical edits
We review models for common 3D-printing constraints such as wall thickness, fragile features, overhangs, and support strategy. Where needed, we can adjust scale, hole sizes, clearances, and small functional details so the part prints cleanly and assembles as intended.
If you have native CAD files (STEP or project files), edits are typically faster and more accurate. If you only have an STL, we can still help, but deeper changes may require rebuilding the part in CAD.
Fit, tolerances, and iteration for precision
For parts that must fit precisely (holes, sliding fits, snap features, mating components), one print is not always enough. We can run a controlled workflow of test prints, measurement checks, and geometry adjustments until the fit is right. This is especially useful when you need reliable alignment across all axes and consistent hole/feature behaviour.
Because iterations affect time and cost, we explain the approach and trade-offs upfront, then proceed step-by-step with your approval.
Replacement parts and reverse-engineering from measurements
If a functional part breaks (a bracket, connector, clip, knob, spacer, tripod component, enclosure lid), we can recreate it using careful measurement and CAD modelling, then print and ship a replacement. This approach works well for geometry-based parts where accurate dimensions matter more than artistic sculpting.
We can work from:
the broken part itself (dimensions you provide or local drop-off)
clear photos plus key measurements
a simple hand sketch with dimensions
Throughout the process, we share clear visuals (screenshots/renders) so you can confirm shape and function before printing.
Splitting large parts for printing and assembly (FDM)
When a model exceeds a build volume or is simply better printed in sections, we can split it into printable parts and add alignment features (tabs/pins/slots) for clean assembly. Bonding and assembly can be quoted where required.
Hardware-ready features (FDM)
Where it improves strength and serviceability, we can add geometry for heat-set brass inserts, captive nuts, fasteners, and clean assembly interfaces.
Resin-specific optimisation (MSLA)
For resin parts, we can improve success rate and surface quality by choosing support placement to protect display faces, hollowing larger pieces to reduce resin usage, and adding properly placed drainage holes. This work ties directly into the resin workflow (cleaning, drying and UV curing) so parts arrive ready to use.
Mesh repair (STL) — where feasible
We can attempt mesh repair for common STL issues (non-manifold geometry, holes, broken surfaces). Some files can be repaired quickly; others may require re-modelling for a dependable result. If a model is too damaged to fix reliably, we’ll tell you early and propose the best alternative.
Scope and expectations
Our design support focuses on functional, engineering-style geometry and parametric CAD work. We don’t currently offer 3D scanning, and we don’t provide organic character sculpting or Blender-style artistic modelling as a standalone service. If you already have an organic model file, we can absolutely prepare it for printing and produce it as a print job.
How it works
- Send your file(s), sketch, or brief (and mention what the part must do).
- We review feasibility and propose options with clear trade-offs (cost, strength, finish, speed).
- You approve the approach; we prepare the model and confirm the print plan.
- We print, finish, and ship — or deliver the final print-ready files if requested.
What to send for the best result
Tell us what matters most (fit, strength, appearance, heat resistance), plus quantity and deadline. If the part mates to something else, photos and a few key measurements help a lot. For replacement parts, include the critical dimensions and any “must-match” interfaces.
Pricing
Design and file support is quoted based on complexity. Small edits and printability checks are often lightweight when included as part of a print job, while full modelling, reverse-engineering, or tight-fit iteration is priced according to time and the number of validation rounds required.

FAQ
Can you fix my STL?
Often yes, if the mesh issues are typical. If the model is severely broken, rebuilding in CAD may be the more reliable route.
Can you recreate a part if I only have the physical piece?
Yes, for geometry-based functional parts. We work from measurements, photos, and reference features, then confirm the design visually before printing.
Do you offer 3D scanning?
Not at the moment. For many functional parts, measurement-based CAD is a solid alternative.
Can you iterate to achieve a precise fit?
Yes. We can run test prints and measurement checks, then adjust the model until the fit is correct.
Can you sign an NDA?
Yes — confidentiality can be agreed upfront. We can also sign a customer-provided NDA where required.
